Performance by Dylan Lardelli and Friends, Wellington, August 2009:

As if to catch the fleeting tail of time grew out of a collaboration with the composer and guitarist Dylan Lardelli. The guitar is at the centre of the work, and indeed the guitar part can be performed as a solo. A central concern is the creation of a flexible rhythmic space, which encourages the formation of spontaneous relationships between sound events. The guitar’s material is mostly given, but the ensemble part is open-ended, even to the extent of its instrumentation, and the musicians are encouraged to collectively navigate their own path through the framework provided.
